"I prefer the vinyl over the CD but it's not because the CD is inferior in any way. It's kind of an intangible thing. The CD presents the listener with an accurate representation of the master tape and a "clarity" that dictates a certain volume setting for optimum results. The LP (for lack of a better word) lacks that "clarity" present on the CD and as a result dictates a higher volume level setting (though not louder relative to the CD). This brings out more of the room acoustics and other nuances present in the recording which only helps the breath of life factor & it warms the heart more too.
I find this true on many but not all of the DCC releases I have exposure to. For instance I like the Miles Davis Fantasy OJC vinyl reissues better than their DCC gold CD counterparts for the reasons mentioned above."
"They match tonally, which was the intent. If your vinyl rig sounds better than your CD player, then the LP will sound better. If your CD player sounds better than your vinyl rig, then the CD will sound better. Kinda stands to reason, eh?
Beyond that and we're going to spiral into the LP vs CD debate, which is invariably an endless loop of opposing opinions. Sorta pointless."
