It's not we wanted to be, it's the recording should be in particular some
good recording, all instruments and volcal were allocated either by the
recording engineers with their maxers or by it's reocrding locations if
they use point source recording.
Our goal is to dig as much as their details out from their recording as much
as possible.
Once your system has the ability to resolve these musical details, then
you would have proper sound stage with width and depth naturally.
This is common approach to audiophiles or music lovers and is not what
you said why we should after the sound stage.
If your system really can bring out details from the software, we can hear
all the emotion from musician why they are at play. This is what we call
musical.
Of course, musical somtime was misunderstood by some sudiophiles such
as some system may play music softly but lack of details, it could be
regarded as musical.
Now to the turn of how much musical you can get. Some system is musical
but not too much details, some are nicer if it can extract more, perhaps
most detail from the software.
These mostly depends on quality of equipments and secondly mis-match
could spoil the tone balance thus loosing a lots of details.
