My wife and I had several couples over for dinner last night. After dinner, I took the guys and one of the wives down to my basement listening room to hear my system. One of the men had asked to see my stereo. The first question asked - and I quote, "Wow, are THOSE BOSE SPEAKERS!!!" (They are Vienna Acoustics Beethovens).
I had a pair of Quad ESL-63's sitting unused in a corner. The comment on those - "Are those speakers? They sure are wierd looking."

When I mentioned my SACD player, no one had heard of the SACD format.

I guess we really are a small group of enthusiasts and shouldn't expect our friends, family or collegues to share our enthusiasm. Still, it would be nice to converse with someone occasionally who had at least a mild interest in the quality reproduction of music.

I played one track. They all commented on how good it sounded and then we returned upstairs to the rest of the group

香港人很忙, 地方又小, 根本沒有自己的時間做自己的事和享受, 唯有在物質上填補, 用金錢去找最方便最快速的娛樂.
香港人有沒有錢就沒需要講, 我不理會的, 我只關心自己有沒有錢, 不過如果說爱面子的話國內人比香港人有過之無不及. 至少我在香港見很多國內的女子時常在街上拿著手電, 風情萬種旁若無人地大聲說話, 好像害怕別人不知道自己有多品味, 多有錢. 至少我見過的不下七.八個.

哈哈~~ 沒辦法, 音響始終不是一門普遍的興趣嘛, 你朋友們是門外漢, 不可以怪他們未聽過什麼是SACD呀.
以前有親戚上來拜年, 見我是玩音響的, 很好奇叫我開給他們聽, 誰不知一聽就說聲音很薄很尖, 為什麼沒低音的? 我都沒他們辦法~~~ :(

同感！我一个玩电脑的朋友听过对我的一套系统后说“你的音响一条电源线都两千多元，是不是被人骗了，你的低音还没有我电脑的低音劲”，把我气个半死。

I once asked 6 guys who were working in CD shops which locate in Chicago, New York, Baltimore, Boston, Los Aangeles, one of them is supervisor, did they have SACD, nobody understood what I was talking about.

A lady once asked me:"James, do you think is there any difference between a US$500 system and a US$5000 system?" I could say nothing, as I knew any explanation to her is just a waste of time.

Last week, when I talked to Dave, a typical Aamerican, about my new gear ( a pair of JBL4622 for my home theatre), Dave said:"You are crazy", that's all.

兩三年前我問過一個加拿大外國人朋友"有沒有聽過MD?", 他說"MD?? CD是嘛, 你打錯字了......", 我說" 是呀, 是MD Mini Disc, 不是CD, MD只有CD五分一面積.", 跟著他說" I never heard of it!!"
所以你以上的情況絕不奇怪的.
始於外國人(美國除外)對電子.電器的潮流不太熱衷, 只是亞洲人比較喜歡這一類玩意. 我覺得外國人注重人與人與大自然的關係生活
