歌手作曲家布莱恩·亚当斯1959年11月生于加拿大安在略省的金斯顿。16岁时，他在英属哥伦比亚省的温哥华市参与俱乐部乐队的演出。他与吉姆·瓦伦斯一起写作的歌曲，曾由普利斯姆、巴赫曼-特纳·奥伏屈夫、鲍勃·威尔切、“吻”乐队等摇滚大腕们演唱，不少歌曲相当热门。
1982年，布莱恩·亚当斯在“纽结”乐队、“恋爱男孩”乐队、“外国人”乐队的演出中充当开场歌星，由此踏上演唱之途。第二年，他的专辑《如刀切物》赢得了白金唱片奖，其中的一曲《直通我心》也成了美国的热门金曲。
1985年他随同蒂纳·特纳去欧洲演出，获得了公众的承认。由于他坚持不懈的努力，他的作品及演唱大受欢迎，其风格基本为硬摇滚型。1987年，他的专辑《进入火中》又获白金唱片殊荣。1991年，一曲《一切为了你》也大出风头，蝉联英美排行榜冠军数月之久，并在34届格莱美奖评选中得到了最佳电影歌曲的称号。同年，收录此歌的专辑《唤醒邻居》创下了破千万的销量。1993年，精选集《So Far So Good》总结了他出道以来的成就，极具收藏价值。在1995年春季，他更以一首电影插曲《你是否真的爱过一个女人》雄居各地排行榜之首。
在家乡加拿大，亚当斯被提名为80年代最成功的录音艺术家，还获得多项荣誉勋章，参与多次国际性的慈善活动。
