Summary:
Please apology for my poor english.
I am talking about STIRLING TW.
Very natural sound with a wonderfull sound scene but focus point is very hard to find.
High range are a little bit reduced and you will have to use an amplifier that have a strenght bass-range but for sure this is what we call in France a "melomane" loudspeaker
Strengths:
Beautifull, natural and material sound, especialy on human voices.
Weaknesses:
Hard to find focus point, high-range reduced.

Summary:
First I saw this little prestige series, ah a good furniture and finish... I like it....
equipment used is:
- Sonic Frontiers SFCD1
- Sonic Frontiers SFL2
- Pass Alleph 3
- Cabling used: Wireworld, Audioquest Clear, Lapis,
I like the sound I heard from my reference CDs, little coloration on mid freq, but overall that's great loudspeaker, comparing with Diapasson, I better like the mid sound and hi freq of Diapasson, but for overal performance..I like the glorious sound of Tannoy..., it's full, lifelike, punchy,, even using Pass Alleph 3 (it's 30watt)....
the adjustable distribution port is very helpful for tuning basses on my room
Strengths:
strong midbas, fast, tightness, good mid, adjustable distribution port for bass and Hi freq control(I reviewed Tannoy StirlingTW not HE, it's 93dB/2.83V/1M
Weaknesses:
sounds too forward, need a carefull placement to get a pinpoint focus, still too expensive for my wallet (almost run out my bank account)

Summary:
This is a follow-up comment to my previous review as below.
It seems the player I was using did not have a quality required to play Stirling/HE at its full potential.
I would like to withdraw my previous comments about Stirling/HE's quality of sounds for certain music/instruments.
Also, I found that addition of ST-200 super tweeters will bring a brilliant result.
The ST-200 is worth purchasing, or at least worth trying ("Listening is believing!"), for anyone using Tannoy Prestige series speakers.

Summary:
Somehow TANNOY's Prestige series loudspeakers are really "prestigeous" in Japan.
(What about the other countries?)
Just owning it is a joy for me in itself :-)
About the points I mentioned as "weaknesses", I feel this speaker system is not very well tuned (or not suitable) for sounds made by percussions.
Or, maybe the speaker system I used to use was just excessively tuned for that kind of music (pops) and I have been too much accustomed to it ...
If somebody reading this has a different opinion or has found a good tuning method (not modifications inside but some methods applicable externally), please do let me know.
Strengths:
Rich sound. You can enjoy CDs from 50s or earlier (or poorly recorded ones in recent years too) without caring too much about the fact.
(= You can enjoy music itself.)
Nicely designed for casual listeners too; Sound is excellent even when you set the units casually without caring too much about setting conditions like distance between the two units, floor conditions, etc.
Weaknesses:
Somewhat disappointing when I played "audiophile" type of CDs. Vividness of some portions of some recordings gets softened.
I need some more time to decide if that is good or bad ...

Summary:
I am using this system for only three months now, so this is a preliminary evaluation. Of course, I expect durability.
It is worthy of note firstly that the external appearance is classic and very, very British, in other words, decent. This system is nicely matched to my current audio room, I think, and this factor is fairly important for this sort of high-priced instruments, I think.
The harmony, even when the symphony orchestra is performing in fortissimo, is tight, not dull, with accurate separation of each part. When I am listening to Beethoven's string quartet, the sound is so natural and vivid that I suppose if the cabinet is vibrating just as a part of the string instruments.
I am actually an analog lover, i.e., Teac reel-to-reel deck fan, and overall integration is satisfactory, indeed.
Strengths:
Appearance, tight bass sound, subtleness
Weaknesses:
High price ;)
