That is the electron hit onto the tube glass envelope. Yes it is staring to
depreciate.
This could also imply that the plate current of the tube is quite heavy in
static state or the high tension is out of optimum voltage specified by
the tube manufacturers.
Or may be the quality is less then ideal.
