This is the information supplied in the Duetta Signature and DAX manual on how to rewire it for ordinary passive use, or active use in conjunction with the Apogee DAX.
You will need a Philips type screwdriver to remove the screws in the back plate, and a suitable size spanner or nut driver set to loosen the binding post connections, and heatshrink or electrical tape to insulate the spare connections to prevent a short circuit.
WOOFER MIDRANGE/TWEETER
Binding Posts RED BLACK RED BLACK
Standard Wiring (Passive crossover) Heavy gauge copper wire Grey & Black Purple Brown, Light gauge copper wire (thin)
Active Crossover Red Black Blue Brown
Changing from passive to active
Remove the four screws from the connection panels on the back of the speakers, pull panel away from speaker, the cloth cover will catch on the connections so gently pull it away.
1. Remove heavy gauge copper wire from Woofer RED binding post, and replace with unconnected Red wire. (You may need to remove heatshrink from the end first).
2. Remove Grey wire from Woofer BLACK binding post leaving just the Black wire.
3. Remove Purple wire from Midrange/Tweeter RED binding post and replace with Blue unconnected wire. (You may need to remove heatshrink from the end first).
4. Remove light gauge copper wire from Midrange/Tweeter BLACK binding post, leaving just the Brown wire.
5. Cover the exposed metal ends of the spare connections, light & heavy gauge copper wire, Grey and Purple wires with tape or heatshrink, and fold away carefully inside.
6. Replace the connection plate with the fixing screws.
