In January and February 2009, Bernard Haitink will lead the CSO in a 10-concert, five-city Asian tour, including the Orchestra's first trip to mainland China. The tour begins in Yokohama, Japan, with performances at Minato Mirai Hall on Saturday, January 31. The Orchestra then moves to Tokyo for performances at Suntory Hall on February 1, 3 and 4. From Tokyo, the CSO travels to Hong Kong, for performances at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on February 6 and 7, as part of Hong Kong's annual Arts Festival. Performances follow at Shanghai's Pudong Oriental Arts Center on February 10 and 11, and the tour concludes with two concerts at Beijing's National Center for the Performing Arts on February 13 and 14.
While in Asia, the Orchestra's programs will include Mahler's Symphony No. 6, Mozart's Symphony No. 41, Strauss' Ein Heldenleben, Haydn's Symphony No. 101 (The Clock) and Bruckner's Symphony No. 7.
