The first cycle of Beethoven's piano concertos to be recorded on period instruments. A ground breaking cycle - recorded using four different period pianos.
Now also includes recordings of three popular sonatas - the Moonlight, the Pathetique and the Tempest sonatas.
This cycle of Beethoven pianos concertos was first released in 1988 to mark the 15th anniversary of The Academy of Ancient Music. It was also the first recoding of the Beethoven concertos to use period instruments and four different fortepianos are used for the cycle.
This lively and fresh cycle was very enthusiastically received when first released and this reissue now includes the bonus of three popular solo sonatas Steven Lubin recorded in 1989.
